“Once you fully get to know me, you’ll see that I can be a very good friend.”
Even before I was diagnosed, I always knew I was different, always wondering why I couldn’t be accepted or why I couldn’t fit in.
Some still don’t get that us autistics are human too. For some reason we give off some unknown vibe to people and they decide to ditch us without us knowing the reason. Our brains just work differently and that needs to be respected.
I love getting to know new people and I’m not afraid to be myself even if I can be weird sometimes. I still aim to make a difference for the autism community. Don’t be afraid to open up and share who you really are. We are more than just labels. I know I’m quirky and different, but not less. I do have feelings and care for people.
Overall, I’m proud to be who I am. I’m adventurous and curious. When I hear I’m being insulted behind my back, I try not to let it get to me but it still does. I don’t know if those who spent a lot of time around me are pretending, jealous or whatever.
People who barely know me sometimes assume the worst and that’s not fair. I’m tired of people focusing on things wrong with me or my other flaws. I may not be flawless, but then again who isn’t?
I may be rough around the edges, but I’m very loyal, inviting and try to be helpful when people need me and always try to brighten people’s days even if it’s not in the best way sometimes.
Once you fully get to know me, you’ll see that I can be a very good friend.
